Job Description
Aurelius Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our Accident & Emergency (A&E) Department. The ideal candidate will provide safe, efficient, and high-quality nursing care to patients in emergency situations while maintaining professional standards and ensuring patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Department Management
Support the smooth and efficient operation of daily departmental activities.
Respond effectively to patient flow and clinical needs by managing available resources optimally.
Conduct patient assessments, anticipate potential risks, and take appropriate actions to ensure safety.
Demonstrate proficiency in nursing procedures and emergency care protocols.
2. Patient Care Planning & Management
Deliver nursing care in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and standards.
Communicate empathetically and professionally with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure positive clinical outcomes.
Address and resolve patient concerns promptly and professionally.
Ensure effective handover of responsibilities and patient information during shift transitions.
Execute doctors’ orders accurately and clarify any uncertainties regarding clinical management.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide coordinated patient care.
Maintain complete and accurate medical documentation and records within the stipulated time frame.
3. Quality Nursing Services
Provide safe and effective nursing care that aligns with hospital standards and patient satisfaction goals.
Complete all required competencies and orientation checklists within assigned timelines.
Participate actively in continuous learning and in-service education for professional growth.
4. Patient and Family Education
Assess patient and family needs for education and support related to health and safety.
Involve family members in patient education to promote cooperation and better health outcomes.
5. Environmental Safety
Maintain cleanliness and proper upkeep of the department, equipment, and furniture.
Ensure correct usage of medical equipment in accordance with safety standards.
Maintain a calm and therapeutic environment conducive to patient recovery.
Uphold infection control and occupational safety standards.
6. A&E Department Responsibilities
Perform patient triage in accordance with the Malaysian Triage Category.
Provide immediate care and initial treatment prior to assessment by the Medical Officer.
Assist doctors during emergency evaluations and procedures.
Participate in ambulance calls and ensure proper handover for patient transfers or referrals.
Manage documentation and procedures for admissions, discharges, or deceased cases.
Complete ambulance and paramedic checklists each shift.
7. General Responsibilities
Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate clinical records.
Assist physicians in clinical procedures and administer medications per hospital policy.
Use hospital equipment and supplies responsibly and report discrepancies promptly.
Participate in inventory control, hospital audits, and continuous improvement projects.
Support hospital/community outreach programs and training initiatives.
Comply with individual and departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Report incidents within stipulated timelines and support departmental data collection for quality indicators.
Participate in hospital code drills, training programs, and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
Registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board and possesses a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience, preferably in Accident & Emergency or critical care.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills.
