Job Description
We are seeking a committed and detail-oriented Infection Control Nurse to ensure strict adherence to infection prevention protocols and to identify, prevent, and control outbreaks in accordance with both national and international standards. This role plays a vital part in safeguarding the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors within our hospital.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Improvement & Risk Management
Develop and implement Infection Control SOPs and policies for both clinical and non-clinical areas in compliance with the latest MOH guidelines.
Coordinate and participate in quarterly Hospital Infection and Antibiotic Control Committee meetings to review policies, assess quality indicators, and address infection control issues.
Establish a reporting and surveillance system to monitor infection trends among patients and staff, compiling findings for committee and nursing division reports.
Investigate incidents involving staff injuries or exposure to blood/body fluids, providing counselling and recommendations as needed.
Conduct regular audits in all areas to ensure compliance with infection control protocols and recommend corrective actions.
Collaborate with HR to monitor employee health status and ensure vaccinations (Hepatitis B, Typhoid) are provided to eligible staff.
Work with Maintenance for environmental and water sampling according to infection control standards.
Partner with Housekeeping to develop SOPs and work instructions aligned with hospital infection control requirements.
Recommend and manage cost-effective infection control consumables to enhance safety and efficiency.
Implement urgent infection control measures during outbreaks and liaise with MOH to ensure compliance with national requirements.
Provide expert input on medico-legal issues related to hospital-acquired infections.
Customer Service
Collaborate professionally with doctors, healthcare teams, and support departments to ensure effective communication and patient-focused service delivery.
Training & Development
Design, plan, and deliver infection control training programs for clinical and housekeeping staff.
Support the Ward Manager in ensuring all staff complete annual infection control competency assessments.
Conduct orientation programs for new employees on infection control practices.
Establish an Infection Control Link Nurse network to promote continuous improvement in infection prevention.
Professional Development
Actively participate in training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills.
Maintain attendance at Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) programs and achieve required CPD points (25–30 annually).
Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with LJM Certificate.
Valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC) / Valid RON.
Experience in infection control or as a clinical instructor preferred.
Fresh graduate State Registered Nurses (SRN) are welcome to apply.
