Job Description

Beacon Hospital Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Inpatient Medical Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality patient care in accordance with hospital policies, clinical best practices, and ethical standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities

Provide routine and emergency medical coverage during duty hours, acting on behalf of consultants when required.

Deliver patient care with compassion, empathy, and respect for privacy, dignity, and individuality.

Ensure continuous medical service and remain on hospital premises throughout the duty period.

Conduct proper handovers and maintain effective communication between shifts.

Lead the medical team during cardiac arrest situations and other medical emergencies.

Support chemo daycare operations, including IV cannulations, phlebotomy, and management of chemo-induced allergic reactions.

Perform essential medical procedures, including:

Blood taking

IV cannulations

Urinary catheterization

Arterial blood sampling

Insertion of nasogastric tubes

Review patients upon nurses’ requests, document findings, and ensure appropriate follow-up.

Review and interpret test results, communicating significant findings to consultants and other healthcare professionals.

Conduct COVID-19 swab tests when indicated (e.g., ICU transfers, pre-surgery screening).

Certify deaths with professionalism and liaise with the consultant for proper documentation.

Conduct nightly ward rounds with DNA and team leaders to ensure optimal patient management.

Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, standard operating procedures, and confidentiality protocols.

Limits of Authority

Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) are not permitted to obtain consent for operations or procedures on behalf of consultants.

RMOs do not have admitting rights; all admissions must be under a consultant with admitting privileges.

Except during emergencies, all significant clinical decisions must be discussed with the consultant.
