Roles & Responsibilities
• Manage daily operations of the pharmacy department under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager.
• Provide advice on prescriptions and medication usage to medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff.
• Dispense medications to patients and counsel them on safe usage, side effects, and administration routes.
• Oversee prescription dispensing for safety, quality, and legal compliance.
• Supervise compounding, labeling, and packaging medication procedures.
• Ensure secure storage of narcotics and controlled substances.
• Investigate and resolve incidents, medication errors, and patient complaints.
• Conduct continuous pharmacy education and orient new staff members.
• Participate in meetings and committees as per Pharmacy Manager’s directives.
• Conduct drug utilization reviews and assist the Pharmacy Manager in preparing drug review criteria for medical staff.
• Inventory control and management including stocktaking and drug audits.
• Ensuring up to date knowledge on latest pharmaceutical products, developments, regulations.
Requirements
• Graduate of a MOH-recognized University or College of Pharmacy with a B.Pharm Degree/B.Sc. (Pharmacy). Registered Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board, Ministry of Health.
• Valid Annual Retention Certificate issued by the Pharmacy Board.
• Authorization for obtaining a poison license to practice in hospital premises.
• Minimum one year of experience in hospital pharmacy practice.
• Knowledgeable about purchasing and inventory control.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia (oral and written).
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
