Job Overview:
The Medical Officer plays a crucial role in delivering continuous, high-quality medical care within the hospital. This position ensures safe treatment, timely emergency response, and strong collaboration with consultants and clinical teams to support positive patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 24/7 on-site medical support to patients, consultants, and nursing staff across all clinical areas, including handling emergencies.
Coordinate closely with the Emergency Physician (EP), Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and Specialists to ensure continuity and safety in patient care.
Conduct medical assessments, institute treatment promptly, and comply with consultant-led treatment plans.
Perform essential clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, IV administration, and emergency interventions including CPR.
Communicate effectively with patients and families, offering clear updates on treatment, admission, transfer, or discharge plans.
Respond to Emergency Room cases based on triage priority and stay fully competent in using emergency equipment and hospital protocols.
Maintain accurate, complete, and timely electronic medical records (EMRD) and ensure proper documentation of all patient care activities.
Arrange and support safe inter-hospital patient transfers, ensuring necessary equipment and medical readiness.
Promote collaborative relationships with internal departments, local health authorities, and external healthcare partners.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, training programs, and continuous professional development.
Adhere to patient confidentiality policies, statutory regulations, and hospital standards of professionalism and dress code.
Contribute to community health initiatives and attend hospital and departmental meetings as required.
Perform additional duties assigned by EP/CMO or hospital leadership to support organizational goals.
Qualifications & Skills:
Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from recognized institutions approved by the Malaysian Ministry of Health/JPA.
Full registration with the Malaysia Medical Council (MMC).
Valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
Experience in Accident & Emergency settings, preferably within private medical centers or major public hospitals.
Strong diagnostic and clinical skills with the ability to function in fast-paced situations.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-care orientation.
