Job Description
Position Summary:
Coordinate Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory activities including equipment quality control and maintenance, inventory and ordering of supplies, and performance improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Cardiologist and team in the operations of the Catheterization Laboratory.
2. Ensure staff roster and case scheduling are available.
3. Ensure compliance to policies and procedures.
4. Ensure compliance to national and cardiology regulations and standards for patient care and safety.
5. Produce images of optimum diagnostic quality and minimize wastage of resources.
6. Ensure work is organized systematically so as to maximize the use of the rooms and staff and reduce patient waiting time.
7. Explain and ensure patient understands the nature of the procedures.
8. Check patient’s particulars with the progress notes and to ensure that the correct Procedure is being done for the right patient.
9. Monitor patient’s haemodynamic status and vital signs. Perform blood gas analysis during diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures.
10. Prepare and assist in Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) procedure.
11. Prepare and assist in Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) insertion.
12. Perform vascular access removal and groin management.
13. Support any related cardiac pacing procedure such as Temporary / Permanent Pacemaker Implantation.
14. Timely and accurately document patient records and observe protocols to ensure compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act and patient confidentiality.
15. Perform venipuncture and intravenous drug administration according to Cardiologist order.
16. Perform emergency resuscitation procedure whenever needed.
17. Check all equipment regularly and report any malfunctions appropriately. Ensure PPM of the equipment are done on schedule.
18. Keep the Catheterization Laboratory clean and maintain all accessories in the room.
19. Keep all apparatus clean and arrange in proper place.
20. Observe health and safety at work and strict radiation protection to protect staff and others.
21. Assist the Cardiologist in more complex cardiology examinations as required.
22. Perform Electrocardiography (ECG), Stress Test, Ambulatory ECG monitoring, Ambulatory BP monitoring, Echocardiogram and Stress Echocardiogram (Exercise and Pharmacology Stress).
23. Perform any other duties as assigned or requested.
Education and Requirements:
1. Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Nursing or other Allied Health Profession.
2. Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in non-invasive and invasive cardiovascular laboratory.
Special Demands:
To be on-call after office hours, weekend and any other particular time when it is required.
