Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform accurate laboratory testing that supports clinical diagnosis, treatment, and patient care. This role requires strong technical competence, adherence to quality standards, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, assess, and prepare biological specimens (blood, urine, stool, tissue, and other body fluids) for laboratory analysis.
Perform venipuncture using strict aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and sample integrity.
Conduct analytical, biochemical, hematological, microscopic, and bacteriological tests with precision.
Perform equipment calibration and verify Quality Control (QC) results before releasing patient reports.
Evaluate test results based on clinical relevance, patient demographics, and specimen acceptability.
Maintain laboratory instruments through routine maintenance and coordinate repairs when required.
Ensure optimal inventory management by ordering reagents and supplies without overstocking.
Accurately record, document, and manage laboratory data, reports, and pathology files.
Process, test, store, and manage blood products in accordance with laboratory standards.
Participate in research activities, audits, proficiency testing, and quality improvement initiatives.
Support training and orientation of new staff and provide technical guidance when needed.
Attend professional meetings, seminars, and mandatory continuing education programs.
Adhere strictly to safety protocols to prevent contamination and exposure to hazardous materials.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
Education & Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Biomedical Sciences.
Valid Annual Practicing Certificate (where applicable).
Strong phlebotomy skills.
Knowledge of staining techniques, culture methods, sterilization procedures, and laboratory practices.
Basic understanding across key laboratory disciplines.
Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia (spoken and written).
