Physiotherapist / Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to join the multidisciplinary care team at Hospis Malaysia, a leading palliative care organization. In this role, you will provide therapeutic support to patients with life-limiting illnesses, helping improve comfort, mobility, independence, and overall quality of life while supporting families and caregivers through holistic care.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical and functional abilities, including mobility, muscle strength, range of motion, and activities of daily living.

Develop and implement individualized therapy plans tailored to each patient’s needs, goals, and clinical condition.

Provide hands-on physiotherapy or occupational therapy interventions to maintain or improve patient function, minimize discomfort, and enhance daily living skills.

Educate patients and caregivers on safe movement techniques, energy conservation, home modification, and use of adaptive equipment.

Work closely with the palliative care team—including physicians, nurses, social workers, and volunteers—to ensure coordinated patient care.

Monitor and document progress, adjusting therapeutic strategies as appropriate.

Support psychosocial wellbeing by demonstrating empathy, respect, and cultural sensitivity in patient interactions.

Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and family support sessions as needed.

Candidate Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.

Professional registration and license to practice physiotherapy or occupational therapy in Malaysia.

Previous experience in palliative care, community health, rehabilitation, or related clinical settings preferred.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage patients and family members effectively.

Compassionate, patient-centered approach with sensitivity to emotional and psychological needs of patients receiving end-of-life care.

Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Fluency in English; proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia or other local languages is an advantage.
