Job Description
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to diagnose visual system disorders and vision impairments, working collaboratively with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate patient management.
Detect ocular diseases and identify systemic health issues with ocular manifestations at the primary care level, and initiate suitable management plans.
Perform biometric measurements of the eye for diagnostic and treatment planning purposes.
Prescribe and dispense corrective lenses and other optical aids based on clinical evaluation.
Provide effective patient counseling and education on eye health, treatment options, and the proper use of visual aids.
Assist with administrative and clerical tasks within the Eye Centre as required.
Participate actively in continuous quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives across the Eye Centre and hospital.
Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head of the Eye Centre.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Optometry from a recognized and accredited institution.
Registered with the Malaysian Optical Council as a licensed optometrist.
Open to both fresh graduates and experienced professionals.
Sound knowledge of optometric principles, practices, and non-surgical management of visual and ocular conditions.
Strong diagnostic and clinical skills in identifying and managing eye diseases and vision disorders.
Willingness to be based in Penang Island.
