Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and competent Medical Officer to deliver high-quality medical care within the Emergency Department (ED). The successful candidate will provide prompt, safe, and effective medical services to emergency patients, corporate clients, and hospital staff, while working collaboratively with specialists and multidisciplinary teams in accordance with established clinical guidelines and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive and professional medical care to Emergency Department patients, corporate clients, and hospital staff
Deliver emergency medical services in full compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines
Initiate timely referrals to appropriate specialists based on patient condition and clinical needs
Communicate and coordinate with specialists regarding patients admitted through the Emergency Department
Assist specialists in the immediate treatment and management of emergency cases when required
Actively participate in Code Blue activations, serving as the primary attending doctor until relieved by a consultant or primary physician
Perform phlebotomy and other approved clinical procedures for emergency and inpatient care
Assist the Radiologist with the administration of intravenous contrast media and sedation, when necessary
Provide medical support for patient transfers to other healthcare facilities
Work according to assigned shift rosters, including night shifts, and be available for on-call duties when required
Attend regular Emergency Department meetings and collaborate closely with ancillary and support departments
Adhere strictly to all hospital administrative, medical, and ethical policies
Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities, including lectures, workshops, courses, and seminars
Conduct and support training programs for Emergency Department nursing and ancillary staff
Maintain up-to-date medical knowledge through current literature and professional development activities
Ensure mandatory reporting of communicable, infectious, and sexually transmitted diseases in accordance with Ministry of Health (MOH) regulations
Perform minor surgical and emergency procedures such as wound toileting and suturing, catheterization, incision and drainage, and closed manual reduction of fractures or dislocations (subject to privileging and competency)
Provide appropriate health education to patients and their guardians
Prepare medical reports for insurance claims, medico-legal cases, and other official requirements
Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time in support of hospital operations
Education & Professional Qualifications
Possession of a basic Medical Degree from a recognized university
Full registration with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) with a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
Successful completion of Housemanship Training
Minimum three (3) years of clinical working experience
At least one (1) year of experience in an Emergency Department setting
