Job Description

Precious Hospitals Sdn Bhd is seeking a qualified and experienced Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) to ensure full compliance with radiation safety regulations and promote the highest standards of radiation protection within our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, regulatory expertise, and leadership in managing radiation safety programs across all departments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Regulatory Compliance

Ensure full compliance with Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) regulations, including facility, equipment, and personnel licensing.

Maintain valid licenses for radioactive materials and radiation-emitting equipment.

Prepare and submit mandatory reports and documentation to AELB accurately and on time.

2. Radiation Safety Management

Develop, implement, and monitor the Radiation Protection Program in line with AELB and international safety standards.

Conduct regular radiation surveys, contamination assessments, and dose monitoring.

Manage personal dosimetry programs and maintain detailed exposure records for all radiation workers.

3. Training and Awareness

Conduct regular radiation safety training sessions and refresher courses for all relevant staff.

Foster a strong culture of safety and compliance within departments utilizing radiation technology.

4. Incident Management

Investigate and report radiation incidents, abnormal exposures, or contamination to AELB and hospital management.

Develop and implement corrective and preventive measures following any incidents.

5. Equipment and Facility Oversight

Ensure proper shielding, signage, and controlled access in radiation zones.

Supervise commissioning and decommissioning of radiation-emitting equipment.

Coordinate calibration, maintenance, and quality assurance testing of radiation devices with authorized experts.

6. Advisory and Liaison Role

Serve as the Radiation Safety Advisor to hospital leadership.

Liaise with AELB during audits, inspections, and license renewals.

Provide expert input on facility design, equipment acquisition, and radioactive waste management.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Physics, Physics, Radiography, Nuclear Science, or a related discipline.

Must be a Registered Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) with the Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB), Malaysia.

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in radiation protection or radiology (hospital experience preferred).

Strong understanding of the Atomic Energy Licensing Act 1984 (Act 304), AELB guidelines, and IAEA safety standards.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Proven ability to deliver safety training and collaborate effectively with clinical and technical teams.
