Operating Theatre Staff Nurse
Job Description
Subang Jaya Medical Centre is currently seeking experienced and dedicated Operating Theatre (OT) Staff Nurses to join our dynamic surgical team.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures in the Operating Theatre (OT), ensuring all equipment is prepared and functioning optimally.
Perform scrub nurse duties to support the smooth, safe, and efficient execution of all surgical operations.
Assist anesthetists and surgeons during minor and major procedures, following established clinical protocols.
Administer medications accurately and promptly, applying strong knowledge of pharmacology and medical legislation.
Receive and verify patients from respective units, ensuring consent forms and necessary diagnostic results are completed before admission to the holding bay.
Manage, administer, and document medication usage, and conduct routine checks on the GA trolley to ensure full readiness for each shift.
Uphold strict infection control standards and provide supervisory support within the assigned OT area.
Support the orientation of new nursing staff and participate in training students and junior nurses in preoperative care.
Provide compassionate basic nursing care and offer emotional support to patients and their families in a calm environment.
Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines to meet organizational and regulatory standards.
Job Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Nursing with a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
Post-Basic Certification in Perioperative Nursing with at least 2 years of OT experience is an added advantage.
Good command of written and spoken English.
