Job Description

The Infection Control Nurse will work closely with the Infection Control team to assist in the prevention, monitoring, and management of infections within healthcare facilities. This role focuses on supporting infection control activities, educating healthcare staff, and assisting in the implementation of policies to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Infection Surveillance:

Monitor infection rates in the healthcare facility and identify potential infection risks.

Assist in gathering and analyzing data on healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).

Support the infection control team in conducting audits and surveillance activities.

2. Implementation of Infection Prevention Measures:

Assist in implementing infection control policies and protocols in accordance with local and international guidelines (e.g., DOH, CDC).

Help educate hospital staff on infection prevention practices, such as proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and isolation protocols.

Monitor adherence to infection control measures and report any issues or non-compliance.

3. Data Collection and Reporting:

Support the documentation of infection control data, including infection rates, compliance audits, and incident reports.

Prepare reports for the Infection Control Committee and other relevant departments.

Assist in maintaining accurate records of infection cases and prevention activities.

4. Staff Education and Training:

Participate in the development and delivery of training and educational programs related to infection prevention and control.

Assist in conducting orientation sessions for new staff on infection control policies.

Provide ongoing education to staff members regarding infection prevention and control practices.

5. Collaboration and Coordination:

Work with healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, and other hospital staff, to identify and address infection prevention issues.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in managing infection outbreaks or incidents.

Serve as a point of contact for infection control concerns within the facility.

6. Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:

Ensure compliance with national and international infection control standards and regulations (e.g., Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation guidelines).

Ensure that infection control practices meet accreditation standards for the hospital or healthcare facility.

7. Quality Improvement:

Assist in identifying areas of improvement to reduce infection rates.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on infection prevention and control.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from a recognized institution.

Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in the Philippines.

Experience:

At least 6 months to 1 year of experience is preferred. 2 years of experience is a plus.

Preferably with hospital experience.

Skills:

Strong communication and interpersonal and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work well in a team environment.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Knowledge of infection control principles and hospital policies is an advantage.

Willingness to learn and stay updated with the latest infection prevention practices and guidelines.
