PHLEBOTOMIST/ LABORATORY ASSISTANT

Healthway Medical is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist/Laboratory Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in maintaining smooth laboratory operations, ensuring quality and efficiency in patient care and specimen handling.

Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Support:

Assist the Registered Medical Technologist in ensuring the availability of laboratory supplies and reagents.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the work area.
Patient Interaction:

Receive and review patient request forms, verifying completeness of data (age, sex, etc.).
Verify and ensure all laboratory procedure requirements are met by patients.
Data Management:

Record patient details in the daily laboratory census.
Encode results in the Healthway system for review and locking by the Registered Medical Technologist.
Prepare batch lists and transmittal slips for sending to the Central Laboratory.
Drug Testing (Authorized Specimen Collector):

Verify the identity of clients/donors and guide them through the specimen collection process.
Collect, seal, and label specimens while adhering to strict protocol and confidentiality.
Accomplish required forms and encode data in the IDTOMIS system, including capturing biometric information.
Waste Management:

Follow proper waste disposal protocols, ensuring infectious materials are handled appropriately.
Confidentiality:

Maintain strict confidentiality of laboratory results.
Refrain from interpreting or relaying results via phone, except to the attending physician.
General Tasks:

Perform other tasks assigned by the Senior Registered Medical Technologist or Clinic Officer.
Operate office equipment such as computers, fax machines, and photocopiers.
Qualifications:
Ability to read, interpret, and apply clinic policies and procedures.
Proficient in using computers and office equipment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information responsibly.
Willingness to travel (100% preferred).
