Job Description

The Ophthalmic Technician plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care within the specialty of ophthalmology. This position supports ophthalmologists and nursing staff by performing diagnostic procedures, assisting in clinical evaluations, and ensuring a seamless patient experience in an ambulatory care setting. The role demands precision, technical expertise, and a patient-centered approach to eye care services.

Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive support in delivering both preventive and specialized ophthalmic care to patients in an outpatient setting.
Assist ophthalmologists and nurses during consultations, examinations, and minor procedures to ensure efficient patient management.
Perform a wide range of ophthalmic diagnostic tests, including visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, refraction, and other specialized evaluations.
Execute accurate and reliable testing techniques under the guidance of the Senior Ophthalmic Technician, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and standards.
Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, offering clear instructions and reassurance to enhance patient comfort and cooperation.
Safely transport and assist patients across departments when required, maintaining a high standard of care and safety.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ophthalmic equipment, ensuring all machines are functioning optimally and calibrated regularly.
Uphold strict infection control measures, patient confidentiality, and documentation standards in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver seamless and coordinated patient care.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Allied Health Sciences or a related healthcare field.
Demonstrated ability to provide excellent patient care and assistance, with a compassionate and professional demeanor.
Knowledge of ophthalmic procedures, diagnostic tools, and clinical workflows is an advantage.
Strong attention to detail, technical proficiency, and ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, doctors, and healthcare staff.
