Hospital Tanjong Karang, situated within the Kuala Selangor district, operates under the jurisdiction of the Kuala Selangor District Council. Established in 1961 and completed in 1965, the hospital officially opened on September 22, 1966, by Sultan Selangor, DYMM Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Hishamuddin Alam Shah Al-Haj. With an initial 50 beds, the hospital expanded to meet growing patient needs, reaching 114 beds by 1982. Spanning 10 acres, the hospital embarked on a new construction project under the Tenth Malaysia Plan, approved during the Third Rolling Plan. The new site, 6.5 km from the existing hospital, covers 40 acres in Sungai Terap, Mukim Ujung permatang.
