Joan Wright

Joan Wright, PhD is an author, former clinical psychologist, consultant, and mentor whose life and professional experiences form the foundation of her memoir, A Psychologist’s Memoir: What I Wish I Would Have Known Before I Knew It. For more than three decades, she worked in clinical psychology and specialized in complex trauma involving teens, young offenders, military veterans, and families. She also founded Joan Wright & Associates and later established the MindShift Clinic, which grew into a multidisciplinary clinical team. Her memoir explores childhood trauma, grief, perfectionism, professional challenges, loss, relationships, and the process of rebuilding a meaningful life after major personal and professional upheaval. The book combines her professional background with deeply personal experiences, offering an honest perspective on how unresolved experiences can influence identity, relationships, achievement, and emotional wellbeing. Today, through SOURCE Consulting & Mentoring, Wright focuses on sharing her knowledge and lived experience with therapists and individuals seeking greater self-awareness, healing, and a more grounded approach to life.
