Welcome to Segamat Hospital, where history and healthcare converge. The name “Segamat” is believed to originate from the words ‘Segar’ and ‘Amat,’ meaning very fresh. It is associated with an event involving Sultan Ahmad and his followers who fled Melaka. The hospital, located 6 kilometers from the center of Segamat, replaces the 76-year-old previous facility. Inspired by the UK’s Nucleus Concept, it started operating on March 27, 1995, offering basic specialist services. Covering 60 acres with a construction cost of RM91.4 million, Segamat Hospital operates with a capacity of 314 beds, serving Segamat, Gemas, and parts of southern Pahang.
