Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital
Overview
Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital, formerly known as Hospital Sungai Petani, traces its roots back to 1920 when Dr. Richard Brunel Hawes from England led it as the first Medical Officer Central Kedah (MOCK). Initially surrounded by rubber estates and wildlife, the hospital saw a shift during the Japanese occupation in 1942. After various relocations, it evolved into Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim, officially operating from January 4, 2007, and inaugurated on November 22, 2007, by Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah. Today, situated in Bandar Amanjaya, it stands as a 696-bed hospital, offering a comprehensive range of 13 specialized services, including General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopedics, Anesthesiology & Intensive Care, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Radiology, Pathology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry & Mental Health, Emergency & Trauma, and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
