Brief History

The Philippine Oncology Center Corporation (POCC) was incorporated on October 22, 2008. On November 10, 2008, POCC took ownership of Marian Radiation Oncology Center. The Center, resting at the basement of Marian Medical Arts Building, in Dahlia Avenue, West Fairview Park, Quezon City, has a total floor area of 386 square meters and has facilities for Computed Tomography Scan (CT Scan) machine dedicated for treatment planning purpose, examination and recovery rooms, surgical procedure room, chemotherapy room and Medical Linear Accelerator (Linac) treatment room, doctor’s rooms, and medical physicist’s room for treatment planning. POCC did refurbishing of machines, upgrading of systems and renovation of facilities.

POCC begun clinical operations in providing quality cancer treatment services to its patients through its Grand Opening day on February 21, 2009 which was attended by no less than Philippine Vice-President “Kabayan” Noli De Castro and Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque.

A year after, POCC forged a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRRMMC) in Sta. Cruz, Manila for the supply, operation and maintenance of radiotherapy machines and equipment such as dedicated Computed Tomography Scan machine for simulation, computerized treatment planning system, medical linear accelerator, and high dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy for its Department of Radiotherapy, otherwise known as JRRMMC-POCC Cancer Institute. The clinical operation started on January 1, 2011 with 1 linear accelerator, 1 HDR brachytherapy afterloader, and   1 CT Scan machine.

On September 1, 2014, POCC took over administration, management and operation of the Department of Radiotherapy of St Frances Cabrini Medical Center – Cancer Institute in Sto. Tomas, Batangas, in southern Luzon, Philippines. The Radiotherapy Department now has 2 linear accelerators, one of which has the latest treatment modality VMAT, plus also 1 HDR brachytherapy afterloader, and 1 CT Scan machine.

Today, POCC is starting another radio-oncology treatment center and ambulatory surgical clinic at Bethany Hospital Inc. in San Fernando City, La Union, located in northern Luzon.

On December 8, 2015, POCC signed MOA with Medical Center Manila (or more popularly known as ManilaMed) for a new state-of-the-art radio-oncology treatment center at along General Luna St., Ermita, Manila, which will be clinical operations in 4th quarter 2016.
