Lactation Nurse Supervisor
Job Description
Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lactation Nurse Supervisor to lead and manage lactation services and breastfeeding initiatives within the hospital. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (MBFHI) standards while providing expert lactation support and education to patients and healthcare staff.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the lactation unit and monitor utilization of services
Lead and manage all breastfeeding and MBFHI-related activities within the hospital
Provide lactation management services to expectant mothers and breastfeeding patients
Educate healthcare professionals and hospital staff on lactation practices and MBFHI guidelines
Conduct training and evaluation of lactation nurses and midwives
Provide breastfeeding education to both inpatient and outpatient populations
Counsel mothers on breastfeeding challenges and nutritional needs for mother and child
Provide HIV pre- and post-counseling for pregnant women
Support the MBFHI Chairman in program implementation and compliance
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BS Nursing)
Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in a hospital setting or maternal and child health nutrition
Certified in Lactation Management Training
Strong communication, training, and leadership skills
